On August 4, 2018, Proptiger, a real estate portal, suffered a massive data breach, exposing the sensitive information of approximately 2.15 million users. The leaked records included a wide range of personal and device-related data such as:

DOB, device information, email addresses, gender, IP addresses, real names, and passwords.

The breach is believed to have occurred due to a vulnerability in the cybersecurity system of the company, which was exploited by an unauthorized individual. Once the hackers gained access to the system, they were able to extract a vast amount of sensitive data from the companys database.

The breach was discovered when the hackers attempted to sell the stolen data on the dark web. However, the buyer reported that the data was fake, prompting the hackers to re-upload the stolen data to clear up any confusion. It was then that the breach was brought to the attention of security researchers and Proptiger.
