The LendingTree database was leaked in 2021, exposing 200,869 records.

The leak consisted of email addresses, usernames, and passwords. Additionally, some records also included IP addresses. Its worth noting that this leak did not involve sensitive financial information, such as credit card numbers or social security numbers.

According to reports, the database was left unencrypted on an Amazon Web Services (AWS) bucket, making it easily accessible to anyone with the right credentials and internet connection. The leak was discovered by a cybersecurity researcher, who later notified LendingTree of the incident.

An investigation into the incident revealed that the database was part of an AWS S3 bucket that was misconfigured to allow public access. LendingTree subsequently disabled public access to the bucket and removed the database.

While theres no evidence to suggest that the leaked information was used maliciously, its still a serious concern for the individuals affected. Its essential for companies to prioritize data security and take proactive measures to ensure the protection of sensitive information.
