In 2016, a data breach occurred on the popular Jeep enthusiast forum, jeepforum.com, exposing the personal information of 508,698 registered users. The leaked data included sensitive information such as email addresses and usernames, putting users at risk of phishing attacks, spam, and identity theft.

The breach was discovered by security researcher Vinny Troia, who found an exposed database containing the user data. The database was accessible without any authentication, allowing anyone with an internet connection to access the leaked information. Troia promptly notified the Jeep Forum administrators, who took immediate action to secure the database and investigate the incident.
