In 2018, Animoto, a video-making and sharing platform, suffered a significant data breach, compromising the personal information of its users. An external security audit revealed that a hacker had gained unauthorized access to Animotos database.

The breach led to a massive leak of 22,437,749 records containing user data, including names, email addresses, phone numbers, and hashed passwords. Animoto confirmed the incident and notified affected users, urging them to change their passwords and enable two-factor authentication for additional security.
